Was a bit confused as to why the rear light isn't flush. Anyone know?

It's possible that the light helps with aerodynamics a bit by acting like a vortex generator—energizing the airflow so that it does not separate from the rear window into a turbulent mess. That, or the designers thought it looked neat. I like it either way. It's better than those third-brake lights that are behind the window and manage to accumulate dead insects.

Thank you for this angle. It helped me figure out why the design is not sitting well with me. There isn't a deck any more. The formula if long-hood-short-deck only works if there's a deck at all. Buuuuut, this makes me think of Corvette-esque hatches....

That rear overhang is just too big.

Also, that fuel-filler door placement is infuriating. Right on a character line.

it could actually have an aero effect. Spoil the air so it doesn't generate lift across the back glass, only smooth air will do it, and then the spoiler lip on the back of the car will help to further reduce any lift if not zero it out entirely.
